A monstrous Fish with exquisite flesh

Monkfish (Angler Fish) is a wild fish which lives in the Atlantic Ocean.
Endowed with a robust appetite, it feasts on fish, squid, starfish and shellfish, etc. which it attracts with a sort of “fishing rod” (which, in reality, is a long appendage which serves as bait). It dangles this appendage in front of itself while it lies in wait for its prey to approach. When its prey comes into sight, without a moment’s hesitation, it opens its mouth wide. The vacuum created sucks the prey into the depths of the gaping mouth and "snap!", the mouth closes again. All that without moving a fin.

Its head is so hideous and its appearance is so terrifying, that sailors used to call Monkfish the “Sea Devil”.

Now, we know that it brings good luck: or at least well-being…
